Qastan tal-imbuljuta

It's beginning to get cold and I had been thinking of doing this recipie for a while... It reminds me of cosy winters at home with all the family.

Hope you enjoy it...

Ingredients:

250g dried chestnuts
1 tbls cocoa powder
4 cubes grated dark chocolate
2 tbls sugar
1 tangerine rind
1/4 tbsp mixed spice
1 pinch ground aniseed
10 whole cloves
500ml water
some aniseed liquor (anisette or sambuca)

Method:

Leave the chestnuts to soak in a bowl full of water ideally for 24 hours.
change the water a couple of times and discard/peel as much of the skin as you possibly can.

The following day put the chestnuts and all the ingredients except for the aniseed liquor in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and let simmer for 2 hours

After 2 hours stir in the liquor and serve hot.

Enjoy.
